We are excited to announce our partnership with ‘More Than Flags and Rainbows’ to deliver an LGBTQ+ inclusion for both Primary and Secondary Schools.
More Than Flags and Rainbows is committed to fostering inclusive, affirming learning environments. Together, we believe in the importance of addressing LGBTQ+ inclusion within schools and are dedicated to providing comprehensive training for educators, support staff, governors, parents, and the entire school community.
Our goal is to equip educators with the tools and knowledge they need to build a classroom culture that embraces LGBTQ+ students, ensuring they feel seen, respected, and valued.
This training, divided into three key sessions, provides foundational knowledge, practical curriculum strategies, and actionable steps to support a more inclusive school environment.
Session 1
LGBTQ+ Literacy Training

Objective: To provide foundational knowledge about LGBTQ+ identities, common challenges, and the role of allyship in creating safe learning spaces.
Outline:
- Definitions of sexual orientation, gender identity, and allyship.
- Understanding the historical and social context of LGBTQ+ challenges in education.
- Interactive discussions and real-life case studies on LGBTQ+ student experiences in schools, with strategies for effective support
Session 2
Creating an Inclusive Curriculum through Books and Role Models
Objective: To guide schools in developing a curriculum that represents and celebrates LGBTQ+ experiences and identities, using literature and visible role models.
Outline:
- Reviewing current curriculum resources for LGBTQ+ representation and diverse perspectives.
- Selecting age-appropriate books and materials that reflect LGBTQ+ themes and foster inclusivity.
- Introducing LGBTQ+ historical and contemporary role models across various subjects.
- Practical lesson-planning ideas to engage students in discussions on identity, inclusion, and diversity.
Session 3
Building Community Support and Considering a School Pride Event

Objective: To equip educators with tools to engage parents and the wider community in LGBTQ+ inclusion, with guidance on organizing supportive events, like a school pride celebration.

- Collaborative strategies for fostering supportive school-community partnerships.
- Evaluating the potential benefits and considerations of holding a school pride event.
- Discussion on creating an ongoing, inclusive culture that welcomes and supports all students, with practical examples of successful school-wide initiatives.
